Here is your second shocker of the weekend.. Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was voted “Offensive Rookie of the Year” Just a quick run down of Peterson’s stats.. Now keep in mind when reading these stats, he was splitting time with Chester Taylor
1341 Rushing yards
268 Receiving yards
13 Touchdowns
4 Fumbles
A more impressive stat, if you know Peterson’s history with injuries.. He played in 14 of 16 games.. Peterson answered two of my biggest questions this season.. Could he take a hit at the pro level.. and could he stay healthy.. Peterson was a joy to watch this season.. The Vikings could have something up there, with a healthy Peterson.. some game experience for Tavarus Jackson.. and a few other positions… The Vikings are becoming very interesting to watch..

This guy is going to be great if he stays humble and healthy. VERY few ball carriers are remembered well if they let their mouths run too much… I like this kid and I’ll be hoping he does well in his career.
I really think he will stay humble.. he does not seem like the type to buy into his own hype..
I may be bias given that I am in Wisconsin, and thus a Badger Fan…but for as impactful as Peterson was, I really thought Joe Thomas was most desrving. Of course linemen never get that type of recognition, but it was Thomsas who kept pass rushers off of Anderson allowing him to have his breakout year…And also help open holes to rejuvinate Jamal Lewis.
Good call Sean.. I agree.. linemen never get that type of recognition.. Joe Thomas is a stud player thou! I really hope Anderson stays with Cleveland.. He was really good this season.. and it would be a terrible loss for the Browns.. Not to say that Brady Quinn would be horrible.. but Anderson really took charge of that offense up there.. I stand by my statement about feeling Romeo got overlooked for coach of the year! His Browns went 10-6 with a third of the talent!!
I found a picture I was going to post.. but decided not to do it out of respect for you, and your bears.. but it was pretty damn funny!
Thomas did play well, but he was blocking for Charlie Frey & he did nothing.
Adrian did deserve rookie of the year.
Peterson deserves it. Broke the single game rushing mark with 296 yards. Also had 222 against the Bears. Averaged 5.7 yards per carry. 1300 plus yards rushing leading the NFC. And he did this all coming off the bench for about half the games he played.
