Is The Wait Over?

smu.jpgThe SMU football program has been without a head coach for about two months now.. well the wait could be over.. June Jones head coach of the Hawaii Warriors has resigned. Jones traveled to Dallas over the weekend to meet with SMU to discuss him taking over the head coaching job.. The offer SMU has made to Jones is being reported somewhere between $1.7 and $2 million per season.. If the Mustangs are able to bring Jones on.. this would be a major boost for this organization.. I’m not real sure that if I were Jones, I would leave Hawaii, where I am looked upon as a god.. Also not sure I would trade in the beauty of Hawaii for Dallas? I eagerly away Liverdamages thoughts on this subject!

  1. financially secure in hawaii vs filthy rich in dallas… believe it or not, I think the move to scenic dallas would be the way to go.

Take a job for 4 years at 800k in a state with huge taxes or 4 years at 1.7 million in dallas… a state with NO TAXES. Strike while the iron is hot, make a shitload of $ @ SMU, keep your house(s) in Hawaii and retire in 4-8 years. Plus, any good football coach will tell you the job will consume your life. The difference between working 18 hours in Hawaii vs 18 hours in Dallas is the scenery on the drive to the office… that and the awesome sushi lunches.

If it were me, I’d choose Hawaii… but then again I’d be fired for enjoying life too much and working too little. You can’t coach a team while exploring coral reefs, swimming with sharks, studying the whales, open water fishing, sitting by a waterfall, hiking a volcano, biking around the island, or drinking a mai-tai.

  2. I would love to see you try and coach the Warriors with a Mai-Tai in your hand on the sidelines!

  3. 1.7 to 2 million to live in Dallas? Wonder how the commute would be from the U.S.?

  4. This coming from the man that lives in Houston.. the city in need of a good fire! 😉
