What Happened Mack?

Mack Brown, or as I like to refer to him as these days the “Jerry Lewis” of the Big 12.. Because lets face it.. Mack is leading a bunch of retards on the field each week.. Goes into Kyle field yesterday.. and watches his team go down by 10 very quickly! Why you ask? Well probably because of the fact that Texas played really really bad.. Turnovers.. the inability to stop A&M on 3rd down.. unnecessary penalties.. another less then stellar performance by Colt McCoy in a game that actually mattered? Take your pick.. Had it been anyone else other then A&M, this score would have been ugly! Not taking anything away from A&M, because they played one hell of a game.. but their offense is not the greatest in college football today.. so for them to run up 38 points was a pretty good days work for that team..

You know I really hate to keep throwing Colt under the bus.. I’m just not convinced, nor will I ever be that he is a leader on this team.. a field general if you will.. This Texas team was doomed from the beginning of the season.. In years past.. Texas would have blown lesser teams away by 40+ points, then the games like OU, Kansas, and A&M would be your nail bitters.. You know the kinda games all college football fans live for?  This year this Texas team has seemed to be just going thru the motions.. Never showing a dominating presence on the field.. They never once showed me that killer instinct.. The attitude where “Were going to jump on you, get you down, and keep our foots on your throats” I blame two things for this..

A. Mack is still trying to run the same offense that he had in play for Vince.. hold please *sending Mack and email to inform him of this obvious oversight on his part* Couple of key differences in Vince and Colt.. Vince could run.. Vince was comfortable operating out of the shotgun.. Colt.. is somewhat mobile.. does not have Vince esq speed, or the ability to make defenders miss him.. also Colt seems more comfortable under center.. Before I get jumped on, I will acknowledge the fact that Colt’s offensive line are mostly freshmen.. and Vince had a group in front of him that some pro football teams would have a hard time with.. I understand that..

B. Young football team.. Mack himself has even stated that this is probably the youngest team he has coached.. Will they get better??  Hopefully! Does Mack need to find some true leadership on this team? ABSOLUTELY!! Hopefully next season we won’t see 6 players end up in jail.. atleast a fan can hope..

Hey most would consider 9-3 a good season.. one certain team comes to mind *cough Notre Dame*.. but when you go into a season with alot of hype around your team.. your ranked in the top 10 in the  nation at the beginning of the season.. you have one of the best talent scouts/recruiters as your head coach.. Now factor in, you lost the BIGGEST game on your schedule.. (OU) and then you loose to one of your biggest rivals (A&M).. You have an average season.. you make an average bowl game appearance.. You in fact have the 9-3 Texas Longhorns.. I would say look at the bright side, we still have next season.. but we have seen what it is, to not have Limus Sweed as a weapon… and there is still the possibility Jamal Charles will not be back next season.. he could declare for the draft.. His smartest move would be to come back next season.. because lets face it.. this years first round is riddled with great runningbacks.. and Jamal Charles could find himself going late in the first round.. if he does not slide all the way to the second round.. or better yet.. He could be like Selvin Young.. and go undrafted! Highly unlikely he would go undrafted.. but you never know..
