A bunch of not-so-stock cars turned left approximately 1000 times each…… Ryan Newman completed his 1000 left turns first and was declared the winner….

Road Racing:

Bull fight? Really large, pissed off animal with sharp objects affixed to it’s head………. No thanks.

Rock climbing? I don’t do heights………

Motor racing? Ha Haaaaaaa!!!!! Now that’s what I’m talking about!!!!!

When I envision the first race, I’m thinking of two guys hanging out in the barn and ma want’s em to go to the market and pick up some vittles. So Pa and Jr. decide to make a game of it.  Pa takes the Stanely Steamer and Jr. jumps in his brand spanking new Model T and the race is on!!!! Over hill and over dale. Left turns AND right turns.

The Stanley Steamer wins……… I don’t care much for Fords…

I don’t believe NASCAR is racing. It’s merely entertainment. The only time you shift is while entering and exiting the pits. Gun the engine, hit the brakes, turn left……. Big whoop. There is a reason why 60 year old fat guys can still compete.

Do want to see something exciting? Try sitting at turn 5 at Road America while a pack of SuperBikes are coming at you at 190 mph trying to fight to be the first guy through the 90 degree left hander. Us road racers have a saying:

Wide open till you see God, then brake……

I say “Us road racers.” Yes, I did it. Yes, it was fun. No, I wasn’t good. My best finish was 8th. I wasn’t that bad for riding a 5 year old outdated Honda Hurricane. What a blast!!!!!

What will you see from me? MotoGP,World SuperBike, AMA SuperBike and the peripheral classes. F1 and Champ Cars. Porsche Cup, European Touring Cup and Austrailian Touring Cup.

I guarantee you’ll have a new respect for Volvos when I’m done with you.

I might comment a little about NASCAR on off weekends or when they’re stumbling laughingly around a road course.

After the Giants beat the Packers in the NFC Championship Game.. I told myself, I’m not watching this years Superbowl”, but after watching the highlights form the Patriots/Giants game.. I really thought the Giants had a chance. Couple of plays go the Giants way in week 16.. The Patriots are 15-1..

Ladies and Gentlemen.. Eli Manning is all grown up! I am very impressed with the play of young Eli not just in the Superbowl, but throughout the playoffs. He managed last nights game very well… he made the plays he had to make! When it was all said and done.. I wondered the following..

-Did Eli tell Peyton “Ha Ha I won a Superbowl faster then you did”!!!

-Did Eli tell Dad.. “You sucked, you never even played in a playoff game”

-Did Eli tell a gimpy Shockey, “When you come back this is my team, and you will do as I say! You’ll get the ball when I damn well feel like throwing it to you!! “I’m no longer your b*tch!!

and last but not least

-Did Eli call Tiki and tell him to “SUCK IT”!!!

I also found myself wondering “When did Mercury Morris become the mouth piece for the 72 Dolphins”?

Earlier in the week Plaxico Burress made his 23-17 prediction, Brady asked was Plaxico on defense? and he wished he would have said 45-42, give us more credit for scoring.. Well Tom, seems Plaxico was being generous! What a dominate performance by Michael Strahan and his defense. Sacking Brady 5 times, and knocking him down 18 more times! I found myself cheering and yelling as I was watching a Cowboys game! While watching the postgame show with Chris Berman, Tom Jackson, and Steve Young I was glad to hear they share the same opinion I do… Your 18-1 record, all the records Brady and Moss set, all the other NFL records the Patriots, as a team set mean nothing after not being able to win the Superbowl..

The only one reason I would have liked to see the Patriots win, would have been for Junior Seau.. He has had a remarkable career.. but in this day and age of players careers being validated by the number of championships they have.. When his career is brought up in conversation it will go something like “yeah he was a hell of a player, BUT he doesn’t have a Superbowl ring.. He will face the same “BUT” as Dan Mario.. and thats a shame..

All and all, the Superbowl was not the thud everyone thought it would be.. I enjoyed watching this one more then I have in several years! Ya know, for a coach that is known as one of the greatest game planners in the history of the NFL.. Bill Belichick looked lost, and never seemed to figure out how stop the different blitz packages the Giants were throwing at him..Perhaps if he had his tapes, he would have been able to. To bad Belichick didn’t have the the super spy headphones, where he could have been listening to the defensive coordinator for the Giants!! *Sidenote* Congrats go out to former Texas Longhorn great Aaron Ross on winning a Superbowl in his rookie year, to add to his National Championship ring!!

SuperBowl Talk

 

In case you guys were wondering if I was going to do picks for the Superbowl. Wonder no more.. This is as close as were getting to one. Most of you guys are probably leaning towards the Patriots, so I’m going to pick the Giants to pull off the biggest upset in Superbowl history! Atleast I’m hoping for that.. To avoid the media beatdown that will result in a Patriots 19-0 season! What are you guys thoughts on this weekends Superbowl??

Goodell Vs Specter Round One

Roger Goodell aka *The Law* of the NFL is now being requested to meet with Senator Specter to provide answers as to why he had the Patriots *spygate* tapes destroyed. For those of you who don’t know the story.. let me provide a real quick overview.. Patriots get caught videotaping opposing teams sidelines, Jets file complaint with the NFL, Roger Goodell hands down a $500,000 to Coach Belichick, also strips the Patriots of a first round draft pick, or their second and third round pick, to be determined pending upon how they finish the season.

Now 2 problems with this punishment..

A. The chances Coach Belichick paid this fine himself, are slim and none.

B. The Patriots are stacked at every position, so the lost of a draft pick means nothing to them. Also look back over the last 5 years, how many of the Patriots draft picks actually make the team, much less start. Once again.. not that big a deal!

*raises hand to be recognized by the court* Yes Mr Specter sir.. Mr Goodell apologizes for not being able to make this meeting personally, he sent me in his place. This office had the “several years worth of tapes confiscated from the Patriots destroyed for one simple reason. We had no interest in investigating the rest of the league for doing the same thing, and wanted to sweep this matter under the rug as soon as possible. Our office felt it be in the leagues best interest to just hand down a fine, and destroy the tapes. We felt with all the talks about trying to expand the NFL worldwide, and expand the markets.. It would be best to keep this matter as quiet as possible. We send our sincerest apology to you and the others you represent. It wont happen again. You have our word *wink*

Spur Benched For A Spur

Kinda funny, Tony Park is put on the I.R. for a bone spur in his heel. An MRI on his foot shows a bone spur that is only getting worse. Not to worry Spurs fans.. Damon Stoudamire plans to sign with the Spurs on Thursday night, to help out in Parks absence..

Well it seems maybe the Sports Gods have shined enough on the Boston teams.. Patriots on the verge of 19-0 and another Superbowl trophey. The Celtics getting Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in the offseason, to become a DOMINATE force in the East. The Boston RedSox winning the World Series this season.. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH already!

The Johan Santana sweepstakes appears to be coming to an end. The Mets and Twins have come to terms on a 4 player trade for Santana. The Mets are now on *the clock* so to speak, as they now have 72 hours to come to terms with Santana. IF the Mets can land Santana, The Subway Series just go a whole lot more interesting! With this news, I guess there is no need just yet to hand Boston the World Series trophy this season.
