Spur Benched For A Spur

tony_parker_flying.jpg

Kinda funny, Tony Park is put on the I.R. for a bone spur in his heel. An MRI on his foot shows a bone spur that is only getting worse. Not to worry Spurs fans.. Damon Stoudamire plans to sign with the Spurs on Thursday night, to help out in Parks absence..

Liverpool Buy Out?

fc_liverpool_liverpool.gif

The level of hatred for an owner has reached an all time high over in Liverpool! Seems the fans are trying to buy out Tom Hicks. With the comments that were left on Liverdamage’s story “We feel your pain liverpool” its only more then obvious Tom Hicks should not only consider selling the team, but should NEVER attend a game!!

Round Mound Of Touchdown!

alg_jaredlorenzen.jpg

Thats  Liverdamages favorite nickname for the former Kentucky quarterback Jared Lorenzen. Others prefer the “Hefty Lefty”.  I was reading some of the interview questions, and various things from *Media Day* with the Giants, and the Patriots.. LD this is for you buddy!

Just had a nice long visit with third-string quarterback Jared Lorenzen, who’s still waiting to start his first game in the league. He started the season as the backup to Eli Manning, but an injury against the Packers allowed veteran Anthony Wright to pass him up.

The former Kentucky quarterback has become known more for his considerable weight than his ability over the years. And he’s not ashamed about it. He said one reporter asked him if he was an effective blocker. I would estimate that he’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 270 pounds.

“I’ve always been huge,” he said. “I came out at 13 pounds, 3 ounces.”

Asked if he’d ever tried to slim down, he said, “Slim is a four-letter word. I try to get down to where I’m not gross.”

Lorenzen also talked about how he constantly goes through all the scenarios that would get him on the field Sunday.

“I don’t want to be the reason we lose,” he said.”

Johan Headed To Mets!

Well it seems maybe the Sports Gods have shined enough on the Boston teams.. Patriots on the verge of 19-0 and another Superbowl trophey. The Celtics getting Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in the offseason, to become a DOMINATE force in the East. The Boston RedSox winning the World Series this season.. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH already!

The Johan Santana sweepstakes appears to be coming to an end. The Mets and Twins have come to terms on a 4 player trade for Santana. The Mets are now on *the clock* so to speak, as they now have 72 hours to come to terms with Santana. IF the Mets can land Santana, The Subway Series just go a whole lot more interesting! With this news, I guess there is no need just yet to hand Boston the World Series trophy this season.

Don’t Do It Jerry!

Bill, buddy, haven’t you taken enough from the Cowboys pantry here? Latest rumor in Cowboy land, other then the fact that Romo and Simpson were spotted together singing Karaoke.. *WHO THE F**K Cares*Is there could be a trade between the Cowboys and the Dolphins in the works to give the Cowboys a chance to pick up Darren McFadden.

Here a few months back I did write a post expressing my interest in this possibility. Mainly fueled by frustration with Julius Jones I felt, and still feel McFadden would be a nice addition to Marion Barber in the backfield. Here is where the rumor comes into play. Marion Barber, the #22 pick(from Cleveland) and the #28 pick (Cowboys) would be given up to the Dolphins to in this deal. If this is the only way to get this deal done.. TAKE IT OFF THE TABLE JERRY!

I realize that in this day and age, a fan can’t be married to a player anymore because they could be traded at a moments notice. It’s a rare and dying breed that only has one team on his resume during his career with free agency, and multi million dollar contracts out there these days. Marion Barber is a rare breed of runner thou, he looks for contact, and is not afraid to take a hit. He rushed for 975 yards on a part time basis! Parcels drafted him, and now he wants him back! Then you factor in your giving up 2 first round draft picks, when you are in desperate need at other positions This trade stinks!

Sure Darren McFadden is an elite college player.. With alot of talent, So was Rex Grossman! Point being, after careful thought on this, *selling the farm to get McFadden theory* its a huge mistake.. It not only takes away draft picks, but it eats up valuable cap room. If your in the market for a running back.. You can find plenty in this years draft, Use some of what Bill taught you Jerry, use your picks wisely! If Jamal Charles from Texas is on the board at #22, or #28.. take him.. he is just about as fast as McFadden, he rushed for 200 yards less, with less carries this year. Jamal Charles was not the only offensive weapon Texas had, as McFadden was about all Arkansas had this season.

Cowboy fans, Keep your fingers crossed, this rumor stays a rumor!

Don Nelson Must Be Desperate!

Ultra

13 years and 5 teams later, Chris Webber has signed a prorated league veteran deal worth about $570,000 to rejoin the Golden State Warriors where his career began. Does anyone else find this strange? Considering the history Webber and Don Nelson have? 6 months after winning rookie of the year, Webber forced a trade to get away from Nelson, Nelson was fired shortly after. Nelson feels without Chris Webber, his Warriors are not a playoff team. Lets think about this one.. Pretty much the same team from last year.. and that’s right.. Your Warriors bounced the Dallas Mavericks last year in the first round of the playoffs.. Not just any Mavericks team.. Nooooooooo a Mavericks team that went 67-15 in the regular season. I’m fairly sure that Chris Webber is not the answer Nelly.. but if you want the headache.. you go right ahead! You have fun with that, let us know how it works out for you!

Now I’m not saying that Webber is a bad player. A 34 year old Webber is still better then most of the starters in the NBA. Perhaps Nelly feels he needs a seasoned vet on the team.. You know the whole reason Robert Horry still has a job.. Robert Horry plays about 75 minutes a season, but is still a very serviceable player.. Hey I’m not ragging on Horry, he still holds a place in my heart from his time with the 94 and 95 World Champion Houston Rockets. *Sidenote* Horry is one of only 9 players to have 7 Championship rings*

I guess only time will tell if Webber is what Golden State needs to make a run in the playoffs.. Im just not seeing it.. I might have to consult Marquis with All Talk Sports to see what he thinks about this one!

Superbowl Rings

NFL logo

Found this neat article on ESPN tonight that has a picture of each Superbowl ring, complete with a little story about one player from each Superbowl. Its kinda cool to take a look at your favorite teams ring for the year they won the Superbowl.

Enjoy 🙂
