59. Colts Mike Pollack – C Arizona St

60. Packers Patrick Lee – CB Auburn

61 Cowboys Martellus Bennett -TE Texas A&M *shakes head* Let me just say this.. I thought if you needed a position filled, you draft the best player at that position. Jerry Jones dropped the ball when he drafted Jones over Mendenhall. He did it again here.. Has nothing to do with the fact that Bennett went to A&M, has to do with the fact he was not the best T.E. left on the board.

62. Patriots Terrence Wheatley -CB Colorado

63. Giants Terrell Thomas – CB USC

Well the first and second rounds are in the books. I must say I am a big fan of the 10 minute picks. Rounds 3-7 coverage picks up at 10 a.m.

Little upset to see Limus Sweed go to Pittsburgh… I’m sure Vince is also. Kansas City won for best draft of the day.. but USC was the big winner at the college level!

I added some stats and bios for each player taken in the first two rounds.. That way if your not familiar with your teams pick, you can check out the player. 🙂

2 rounds down, 5 to go…

Thursday Funny…

tmq_lg.gif

With the draft upon us.. Mock Draft Boards are going crazy.. This is one of the better articles I’ve read this week. Here is a sample…

7. New England Patriots (from San Francisco): Michael Hayden, director, Central Intelligence Agency. A perfect fit for the Patriots’ program.

This is definitely worth the read 😉

Well No More Strip Clubs For Me…

pacman jones

Well its official.. Pacman Jones is now the Cowboys headache. The Titans get a 4th round draft pick for the extremely talented, and colossally stupid cornerback. Atleast Jerry was smart enough to put some conditions on this trade..

A. Pacman must be reinstated, and play a majority of the upcoming season for the Titans to get the rest of the deal *6th round draft pick next year*

B. If Pacman is not reinstated, or does not play a majority of the upcoming season, the Titans give the Cowboys back the 4th round draft pick next year, and the deal is a wash.

For the record I do not support this move. So lets look at the troubled players that have been brought in over the last few years

1. Terrell Owens

2. Tank Johnson

3. Pacman Jones

4 Chris Henry ( not yet, but I’m sure its coming. He is a thug.. Arrested 5 times in the last 2 years..He would fit in nicely)

5. Michael Vick (suuuuure why not..)

6 Cedric Wilson

Ok so the last three haven’t happened yet.. but you see my point. I’m a die hard Cowboys fan, but I gotta tell you.. I’m very disappointed in my team today.

*Sidenote.. The night the Pacman deal is finalized.. it stormed like hell.. The day after.. The skies are grey*

Dolphins Are Now Off The Clock…

Jake Long

With the first overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft.. The Miami Dolphins select.. Form the University of Michigan.. Jake Long. The Dolphins have come to terms with Long to the tune of 5 years $57.75 Million.. $30 Million guaranteed. Well I guess now the Rams are on the clock. Please keep the draft pick to yourself thou.. I still would like to enjoy my draft weekend! 😉

Trade Winds Starting To Kick Up…

2008 NFL Draft

With draft rapidly approaching the talks of teams trading up and down have started to pick up. Here is the latest word from various teams.. Now I will say this I was disappointed two years ago when word leaked that the Texans had signed Mario Williams the night before the draft. I am already disappointed with this years draft. The Dolphins are already in contract discussions with Jake Long. Now after the Jamarcus Russell hold out last year.. this does make sense, but it seems to defeat the spirit of the draft at least in my eyes.

Trades before the draft have gone on for years.. but I know I’m not alone when I say.. “I want to be surprised”!

Budget Draft Picks, Turned Hall Of Famers…

BURNING FOOTBALL

Exactly one week from today I will be setting up camp in my living room for several hours watching the NFL draft! For years the first round draft picks are the ones show all the love, well excluding Tom Brady, we all know his story. This is a list of the top 50 *budget draft picks* selected late 2nd round all the way thru the 7th round. Some of these players have gone on to have hall of fame careers, Enjoy! 😉

McNair Set To Retire…

Steve McNair

After 13 seasons in the NFL Steve McNair is expected to announce his retirement this afternoon. With McNair calling it quits, you can best believe the Raven will seriously consider changing up their normal defensive first round draft pick, and consider taking a QB with their first round pick. When your depth chart consists of Kyle *Spare* Boller, and Troy *undrafted walk on* Smith, the concern for a solid starting QB must be there..

Good luck to you Steve McNair, and thank you for being a mentor, and working with Vince Young while he was in college.. You should have been sent one of those National Championship rings.. 😉

Suck It Up Chad…

chad being Chad

Raise your hand if your tired of hearing Chad Johnson cry about wanting to be traded?? I am currently raising both my hands!! In the latest 4 year old temper tantrum, the disgruntle wide out is now refusing to report to any function that has the Bengals name attached to it.. And for his next trick, he is going to sit in the corner, and hold his breath until he is traded.*shakes head*

Does this situation remind anyone of another Diva wide out that threw the same temper tantrum, and chose to not attend any team functions, or training camps.. This wide out decided to instead hold press conferences in his driveway and do sit ups. Oh and did I mention these two Diva’s have the same agent??  Johnson is following in the footsteps of Terrell Owens. Yeah T.O. got his trade.. but it cost him half a years salary,  and then a portion of his signing bonus was awarded back to the Eagles earlier this year.

I applauded the Eagles for standing up to T.O., and I applaud the Bengals for standing up to Johnson. Basically from what I can see, Everything was great when the Bengals were winning, and making playoff appearances. As soon as the team started to struggle, Johnson wants out. Sure he can say he feels disrespected, and he feels his team doesn’t have his back. I think it comes down to the fact that Johnson failed to make some big plays last year, called out his coach and his QB in the media, and because someone responded to what he had to say, “I feel disrespected, I’m a cancer in the lockerroom” ect ect ect..

This is just proof that all can be well when your team is winning, but ones true character comes thru when times get tough. If the Bengals end up trading Johnson, you know the Cowboys will be at the front of the line.. I wonder if T.O. and Johnson could coexist on the same team..
